The Miraculous Power of Pure Love

I've never known anyone to be as in love with her child as my friend Susan is with her three-year-old daughter, Hannah. One day she found herself driving down the street behind a truck filled with items it was hauling away, including a string of birthday balloons. Susan looked at it and thought, "Gee, that’s exactly what we need for Hannah's birthday party." At that very moment, a gust of wind came along and blew the balloons off the truck and into the street. Susan pulled her car over, carefully picked them up and proceeded to shove them all into her tiny Honda. When she arrived home and began putting them up in the backyard, her family reminded her that Hannah's party wasn't for another three weeks. "Honey, they're wonderful, but balloons won’t last that long." Staying firm in her intention to have a beautiful party for her daughter, Susan kept them up.

When we arrived at her daughter's birthday party, we were greeted by warm, loving people and a beautiful display of birthday balloons that looked as if they were blown up the day before. It was a demonstration of the miracle of pure parental love.
It has been said that parental love is the closest human analogy to the Divine’s love for us. And it does seem to correspond that when our love is pure, miracles seem to happen spontaneously.

So, where would you like a miracle in your life? Your relationship? You can start by putting aside any resentment or other “issues” for a moment, open your heart and allow a love larger than you to flow fully in the direction of your mate, your friend, your child or your relative. Then, just notice what happens next. The issues may creep back, but if you continue to practice this, you will either be led to the perfect way to resolve the issues or they will disappear on their own.

Do you need a miracle around finances? The poet Kalil Gibran told us that "money is love made manifest." Put aside what you don’t like about your job, open your heart and pour all your love into your work, whatever it may be. Keep practicing this, keep your eyes open and quite possibly a better opportunity will open up for you. Does your business or career need a miracle? Open your heart and give lovingly of your talents, your abilities and the service you provide for others. Love your customers.

Does your health need a miracle? Open your heart to love and forgive any person or situation you may be resisting or resenting. Fall in love with a Divine image of wholeness.

Then, look for a miracle. Many people tend to overlook this part. They’ll dismiss fortuitous events and healings as coincidental.

And, this is not easy work. Things and people challenge our commitment to keep our heart open. It takes practice. Start with something easy, and then notice the miracle. It will give you confidence that this works. As you progress, you will be more willing to open your heart and let pure love flow…and, in turn, more willing to allow a miracle to occur.

Here’s an affirmation you can use. I commit to love today. I open my heart and allow Pure Love to flow fully into every area of my life. I am open to miracles.
